Thorn and Feather is a self- catering property rented on an exclusive basis – there are no other guests on the property during your stay. The property comprises of a series of stone buildings interlinked by well-maintained walkways. A design aimed at providing privacy and togetherness.

Three Bedrooms/Sleeping Cabins

There are three seperate stone cottages functioning as bedrooms. Cottage “Astrid”: 1 x double + 2 x single and adjoining bathroom (shower, toilet). Cottage “Annabelle”: 1 x double + 1 x singleCottage “Sam”: 1 x double. Cottages Sam and Annabelle share “the Bathhouse” – a seperate building with shower, bath, toilet and basins. All the cottages are equipped with reading lights, fans and outdoor lighting.

Kitchen, Dining, Living, and Entertainment

The main building includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area (with fireplace) and undercover stoep with binnebraai, couches and a large daybed. An expansive open deck overlooks the duivenhoeks river with a circular fire-pit and wood burning hot tub.

The Bath House

A spectacular three-sided, spacious stone building with a transparent screen highlighting views of the Duiwenhoks River. The space contains a stone clad bath; shower, separate toilet and bathroom facilities. 

Decks, Plunge Pools

The open deck is connected to timber walkway linking with a partially shaded deck and pool. The pool water is filled from a fresh water spring every few days without the use of chemicals. There are sun recliners and other outdoor furniture.

River Access, Water Sport Gear and Boating

Thorn & Feather has direct access to the Vermaaklikheid River (Duiwenhoks). The path winds under milkwood trees before passing through reeds to reach the water’s edge. There are places to moor water craft and a set of stairs and hand railings at the high water mark. Guests wishing to launch boats will need to make use of one of two public slipways a few KM away. Children require supervision at all times, and the property & management do not accept liability for accidents and injury.
